Engine sits just behind the front axles to balance a bit more.

It could be done with a bit of fab work and a shorter drive shaft. (That is, moving the engine back ~6")

Firewall/tunnel would have to be modified for clearance. Not sure how much better handling would be with that minimal of a change.

If youre talking about rear-mounted engine you could POSSIBLY squeeze a transaxle set up in there, but that is going to turn into a ton of work and the balance would be thrown way off. (Moving the gas tank to the front wouldn't balance out the engine moving to the rear much).

Either way, do whatever makes you happy.
